Strand unveils its new UK store concept – in Sydney

Australian travel brand Strand has launched its flagship store in Westfield Bondi Junction. The store – whose concept will be launched in the UK soon – features products from brands including Samsonite, Antler, Nere, and Guess. It also displays designed and crafted leather handbags from Evity, Laura Jones and Aya. “Travel continues to play a key role in our wellbeing, and Strand wants to be a part of our customers’ life journey and adventures,” said Felicity McGahan, group CEO of Strand.

Primark to Open First of 5 Texas Stores Next Month

Irish apparel retailer Primark is continuing its brick-and-mortar expansion in the Southwest U.S. with the opening of its first Texas store next month and plans for four more locations in the state. Primark also signed a contract to open a flagship store in midtown NYC’s Penn District last month. The new store, located at La Plaza in McAllen, Texas, will feature 37,000 square feet of selling space when it opens Dec. 12, 2024 and will be the retailer’s 29 th U.S. location.

Wrangler drives better-than-expected growth for Kontoor Brands

Kontoor Brands has reported an uplift in sales for the third quarter, driven by positive performance of the Wrangler brand. The company achieved revenue of $670 million for the quarter ended September 28, up 2 per cent year on year. US sales grew 5 per cent to $530 million, while international sales dropped 5 per cent to $141 million. Wrangler was the hero for the period with revenue up 4 per cent to $464 million, while Lee saw a 3 per cent decrease in sales to $202 million.

Selfridges losses double despite sales hike

Selfridges losses more than doubled in its latest annual results, despite witnessing a sales hike. Filings for Cambridge Retail Group Holding, which is owned by Central Group and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, showed pre-tax loss hit £340m for the year to 3 February, compared to £126m losses the year prior. However, sales soared 95% to £1.6bn for the company, partly due to a rise in its finance bill including interest paid on borrowings.
