WHSmith ‘in its strongest ever position’ thanks to soaring travel sales

WHSmith profit edged up in its half-year results driven by soaring sales in its travel division. Group profit before tax and non-underlying items reached £46m, up from £45m in the prior year. The retailer’s travel arm reported a trading profit of £50m, up from £47m, while its high street operations saw profit slip from £24m to £22m.
