Apple Store Employee Union Wins 10% Raises for Maryland Store Workers

Ted Baker to close all UK stores in next 3 weeks

Ted Baker administrators plan to shut all of its UK stores within the next three weeks. Since the business behind the fashion retailer’s UK arm, No Ordinary Designer Label, collapsed in March, 15 shops have closed, however all remaining store staff have been told they will lose their jobs, according to The Sun. It is understood that despite the message to employees, the plans have not been finalised.

Carl’s Jr’s Australian licensee collapses into administration

Carl’s Jr’s Aussie master franchisee CJ’s Group has placed its 24 restaurants in administration and appointed KPMG Australia’s David Hardy, George Georges and Emily Seeckts as voluntary administrators. After an initial assessment, the administrators will continue to trade four of the restaurants owned and operated by CJ’s Group. The voluntary administration does not include a further 25 restaurants which the CJ’s Group has sub-franchised.

Unionized Virginia Costco Employees Vote to Strike

In a “near unanimous” vote, Costco employees in Norfolk, Va. represented by Teamsters Local 822 have authorized a strike following more than eight months of negotiations, according to the union. Nearly 250 Costco warehouse workers voted to join the union in January 2024. Additionally, Teamsters Local 174 also is in negotiations for more than 150 Costco drivers in Sumner, Wash., who voted to join the union in April 2024.

Crocs booked higher net income in the second quarter

Crocs says its net income rose by 7.8 per cent in the second quarter to US$228.9 million as revenue grew 3.6 per cent to $1.11 billion. Crocs brand’s revenue increased 9.7 per cent to $914 million with its direct-to-consumer revenue rising 12.5 per cent to $479 million and wholesale revenue growing 6.9 per cent to $435 million. Iceland hits record profits as energy bills ease and £1 value range rockets
