The gap between Aldi and Asda is closing in as the German discounter revealed this week that its pre-tax profits had more than trebled to 536.7m The chain’s value offer and rapidly expanding store network in recent years saw it overtake Morrisons to become the UK’s fourth largest supermarket in 2022.
