Myer seeks to merge with Premier Investments’ Apparel Brands

Department store group Myer has proposed to combine its business with Premier Investments’ Apparel Brands, comprising Just Jeans, Jay Jays, Portmans, Jacqui E and Dotti. The proposal is non-binding, indicative and conditional. Myer proposes an all-scrip merger in which it would acquire Premier’s Apparel Brands – previously called the Just Group before Premier acquired the business in 2008 – in exchange for the issue of new Myer shares to Premier.

Wax London ramps up retail roll-out with new London store

Men’s clothing retailer Wax London is opening a new store at Covent Garden, 45 Neil Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9PR on 28 June 2024, which at 975 sq ft will be over double the size of both the brand’s Berwick St and Spitalfields stores and with “further deals in the pipeline for London and key UK cities” in 2025. The Neil Street opening marks Wax London’s third permanent UK store in London.

Metcash books lower earnings as cost of doing business rises

Metcash delivered lower earnings despite higher sales in the last fiscal year, reflecting an increase in cost of doing business particularly in the hardware segment. The group’s statutory profit after tax slid 0.7 per cent to $257.2 million while revenue rose 0.7 per cent to $15.9 billion in the year ended April 30. Ocado axed almost 1,000 jobs last year

Ocado cut close to 1,000 jobs in 2023 as it looked to reduce costs and boost profitability. The online grocer said it employed 18,869 people globally in its latest annual report, down from 19,744 the year prior.
